At PIXERS we cheer on many artistic projects, but for some we cross our fingers particularly hard. One of them is “Before I Die” project that has captivated us not only by its subject (WE LOVE WALLS <3), but above all, by an extraordinary goal which is to encourage people to reflect on their own lives and share their dreams with the world.

Before I Die – What it actually is?

Basically, it’s a simple piece of wall turned into a blackboard where people can write their desires and aspirations by ending the sentence “Before I die I want to…”. The project was born last year year in New Orleans and its success surprised even the Originator, Candy Chang, who initially treated him more like an experiment that would allow her to find out what preople are dreaming of.

A piece of wall, one sentence to complete and colored chalk. That was enough to encourage hundreds of people to share their desires only during the first day. The idea quickly spread around the world and so far has expanded among other countries to Australia, Canada, Spain and the Netherlands.

If you’re as impressed as we are with this idea, we’ve got three good news:

  1. Before I Die also has an online version that lets you to share your plans without even leaving home.
  2. You not only can build your own wall in your city, but you can also choose any text and location. The creators of the project give you a completly free hand in the choice and you don’t even need your permission. In addition they provide you a comprehensive handbook and useful tools.
  3. Soon, you´ll be able to see the “Before I Die” walls from around the world thanks to the book, which in addition to hundreds of photos will also feature stories from people that have both built and written on a wall.
