Oar in oar – how to get to know a team during a canoeing trip
One of the values that we believe in and put into practice at PIXERS is that it is much more effective as well as pleasant to work in a tight-knit team. For this reason, we decided to integrate our team outside the office again this year.
Last year we went to Stawskie Lake , and this year our choice was the Kormoran Resort on Niesłysz Lake. Despite the fact that the trip was scheduled for the second weekend of September, the weather was perfect and we enjoyed a temperature of over 25 C.
We left our Wrocław office on a sunny Friday afternoon and got to our destination just in time for supper, which we enjoyed while chatting, dancing and staring at the stars from the bridges.
The main attraction, and the greatest challenge for our team was Saturday’s canoeing the river Paklica. Canoeing along the 15 km route took us 5 hours and many challenges awaited us along the way: squeezing through tree branches, maneuvering through fallen logs and fleeing from a family of swans with their cygnets. There was a lot of emotions, a healthy dose of rivalry and a break for delicious split pea soup on the bank of Paklicko Wielkie Lake.
The picturesque route was not just a test of endurance but also a great integrational task. Canoeing in pairs as a sport requiring working together and catching the same rhythm, forced us, as it were, to work together. Making decisions, a division of tasks within the team and finally finding a common rhythm in canoeing allowed us to get to know each other better. We were very tired once we reached the finish line, but we were also very satisfied that we succeeded.
Thanks to our appetite, whetted by our efforts, supper tasted divinely that evening, especially since there were several brave souls who, after canoeing, decided to swim across Niesłysz Lake.
Memories and stories from the trip can still be heard in the office today and I am certain that we will have another group trip again next year.
